Has God ever told you to do something that seemed so far out? You think, God are you
serious?! Sometimes God calls us to do things that makes no sense in the moment, but it all
comes together in the end. Back in 2019, I was working a 9 to 5 job that I loved. I was making
good money and after working 2 years God instructed me to quit. Now mind you, I had just
started graduate school and this job was my main source of income to pay for tuition. Behind the scenes, I had been praying for God to direct me into the career path he wanted me to go, and God finally answered my prayer. Does this sound familiar?
Often as believers we get frustrated after we pray because God doesn’t answer our
prayers in the moment that we want him to. Then, as soon as he answers the prayer we’ve been praying, we become fearful to take the first step of the instructions he gives us to walk towards the promise he prepared for us. We also get upset because God is answering our prayers in a different way than we think he should.
Are you really prepared for God to give you what you’ve been praying for? Has God already given you instructions and you’re too fearful to take the first step? Let us take courage and get out of the boat like Peter did when he saw Jesus on water. God is waiting for you to activate your faith. Remember God won’t take you to what he can’t walk you through.
Matthew 14: 27- 30 NLT
27 But Jesus spoke to them at once. ‘Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” 28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So, Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord! he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.
