Worship Song: "Goodness of God" – Bethel Music
Reading: Genesis 2:15 (NLT) – "The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it."
Devotional: Before sin entered the world, work was a gift from God. Adam was given the responsibility to care for and cultivate the garden. Work was designed to be fulfilling, creative, and an act of worship. It was never meant to be a burden. However, sin distorted God’s perfect plan, making work painful and frustrating.
Even today, we can regain a sense of purpose in our work when we shift our focus. Whether working in an office, at home, or serving others, your labor is an opportunity to glorify God. You reflect His original design when you work with integrity, joy, and excellence.
Reflection:
Do you see work as a gift or a burden?
How can you invite God into your work today?
3-Step Application:
Start with prayer – Before your workday, ask God to help you work with purpose.
Examine your attitude – Shift your mindset from "I have to work" to "I get to work."
Honor God through work – Commit to working with integrity and diligence.
Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for the ability to work. Help me to see my work as a way to honor You, not just a means of survival. Please give me strength, wisdom, and joy as I labor today. May my work be a reflection of Your goodness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
