Day 3: Providing Emotionally

Reading: Romans 12:15

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

Devotional: Emotional provision is often overlooked, but it’s just as critical as physical needs. Being present, showing empathy, and encouraging can heal wounds and strengthen bonds. Jesus wept for Mary and Martha—not because He couldn’t fix the situation, but because He loved them. (*See John 11:1-44) Emotional provision is about being there.

Reflection: Are you emotionally present in your home, or just physically there?

3-Step Application:

  1. Ask your spouse or child how they’re doing—and listen without fixing.

  2. Write a note or send a text of affirmation to a family member.

  3. Be fully present with your family today—put your phone away and look them in the eyes.

Closing Prayer: God, give me a heart that feels deeply and loves well. Teach me to be present and attentive to the emotional needs of those You’ve placed in my care. Amen.
