Day 5 — Choose Obedience Over Approval

Scripture Reading

Galatians 1:10 NLT

“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God…”

Scriptural Thought

One of the greatest battles in difficult relationships is the battle for approval.

We want people to like us. We want family to understand us. We want friends to support us. We want people to agree with our decisions. But if we are not careful, the need for approval can become stronger than our desire to obey God.

Jesus never lived for the applause of people. He lived to please the Father.

That does not mean He was careless with people. It means He was clear about His assignment. He knew who sent Him. He knew what mattered most. He knew obedience to God was worth more than temporary acceptance from people.

There will be times when following Jesus disappoints people. There will be moments when obedience makes others uncomfortable. But you cannot let the fear of disappointing people cause you to disobey God.

Love people well. Honor them where you can. Be humble. Be gracious. But when it comes down to approval or obedience, choose obedience.

Reflection

Where have you been tempted to choose people’s approval over God’s will?

1. Name one area where you need courage to obey God.

2. Release the need to be understood by everyone.

3. Take one obedient step today, even if it feels uncomfortable.

Closing Prayer

Father, free me from living for people’s approval. Help me love people without being controlled by their opinions. Give me the courage to obey You fully and the grace to do it with love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
