Scripture Reading
Mark 3:35 NLT
“Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Scriptural Thought
Jesus makes a powerful statement here. He is not dishonoring His natural family. He is clarifying that obedience to God must become the highest priority of our lives.
We live in a world where everyone wants access to our decisions. Family has opinions. Friends have expectations. Culture has pressure. Social media has influence. But the real question is: Who has your ear when God is speaking?
Jesus teaches us that the closest people to us are not always the people who share our bloodline. Sometimes the closest people are the ones helping us obey God.
That matters because some relationships may love you deeply, but still not understand what God is doing in your life. Some people may be close to you emotionally, but not aligned with you spiritually.
Standing firm does not mean you stop loving people. It means you stop letting people pull you away from the will of God.
Reflection
Who has the strongest influence over your decisions right now: God’s Word, your emotions, your family, your friends, or the pressure around you?
3-Step Application
Ask God to reveal who is influencing your obedience.
Identify one voice that pulls you closer to Jesus and one voice that distracts you.
Choose one decision today based on God’s will, not people’s pressure.
Closing Prayer
Lord, help me hear Your voice above every other voice. Teach me to honor people without allowing people to take Your place. Give me wisdom, courage, and love as I follow You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
