DAY 2 — BEFORE YOU CALL IT AN ATTACK

Proverbs 1:20–33

Think About It

Sometimes we spiritualize things that require personal responsibility.

Something goes wrong:

“The devil is attacking me!”

Something falls apart:

“The enemy is busy!”

And sometimes that's true.

But sometimes... we didn't listen.

Proverbs 1 describes wisdom calling, warning, and trying to get people's attention. The problem wasn't that wisdom wasn't available. The problem was that they refused to listen.

Eventually, consequences came.

That's difficult because blaming the enemy is sometimes easier than examining ourselves.

But if I blame the devil for what my own decisions produced, I may spend my time rebuking something God is telling me to repent of.

Pay attention.

Maybe God already sent wisdom.

Maybe someone warned you.

Maybe you saw the red flags.

Maybe Scripture already told you what to do.

Maybe deep down, you already knew.

The question isn't only, “Who is attacking me?”

Sometimes the better question is:

“What wisdom have I ignored?”

Ask Yourself

Is there an area of my life where I've been blaming something or someone else instead of taking responsibility for my choices?

Pray

God, give me the humility to receive wisdom and correction. Show me where I've ignored what You were trying to teach me. I don't want to blame others, circumstances, or even the enemy for something I need to own. Give me courage to repent, change direction, and make wiser decisions. In Your Son Jesus' name, amen.

Carry This With You Today

Before you call it an attack, pay attention to whether wisdom already warned you.
