DAY 2 — LORD, OPEN MY EYES

“O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!”

Scriptural Thought

Notice what Elisha didn't pray.

He didn't immediately pray: “God, remove the army.”

His first prayer was essentially: “God, change what he can see.”

That's important and powerful.

Because sometimes we're asking God to change our circumstances when God wants to change our perspective.

The servant needed to recognize something that was already true.

God was already there.

God's heavenly army was already there.

God's protection was already there.

He just couldn't see it.

When God opened his eyes, God didn't suddenly send help.

The help had already arrived.

His circumstances didn't change first.

His perspective did.

There are moments in your life when you need more than another answer.

You need God to open your eyes.

“God, help me see what You're doing.”

“Help me see what I'm missing.”

“Help me see this relationship differently.”

“Help me see this season differently.”

“Help me see myself the way You see me.”

Spiritual sight isn't about seeing angels everywhere.

It's about developing the ability to recognize God even when your circumstances make Him difficult to see.

Don't just pray: “Lord, get me out of this.”

Sometimes pray: “Lord, open my eyes while I'm in this.”

Reflection

Have I been asking God only to change my situation?

What might God want to show me while I am walking through it?

3-Step Application

1. Slow Down. Take five quiet minutes today without your phone, music, television, or other distractions.

2. Ask. Pray one simple prayer: “Lord, open my eyes. What am I missing?”

3. Listen. Pay attention throughout your day to Scripture, conversations, conviction, encouragement, and opportunities God may use to redirect your perspective.

Closing Prayer

Lord, open my eyes. Help me see beyond what is immediately in front of me. Give me spiritual understanding and wisdom. Show me where You are working, where You are leading, and what You are teaching me. I don't want fear to distort my vision. Help me see my life through the truth of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
