Day 2 – Misplaced Anger

Reading: Jonah 4:5–6 (NLT)
Scriptural Thought:
“And Jonah was very happy about the plant.” - Jonah 4:6, NLT
Reflection:
Jonah is angry about people… but happy about a plant.
That contrast is intentional.
It shows how easy it is to care more about comfort than mission. More about convenience than compassion.
We can become emotionally invested in things that don’t matter—and disconnected from what matters most to God.
Jonah’s emotions were real—but they were misplaced.
And so are ours sometimes.
3-Step Application:
Ask yourself: “What am I more passionate about—my comfort or God’s mission?”
Realign your priorities through prayer and Scripture.
Choose one action today that reflects God’s heart for people.
Closing Prayer:
God, realign my heart. Help me to care about what You care about. Shift my focus from comfort to purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen. Missed the teaching on Mad At Mercy? Click on the link to tie the message and devotion together.
