Day 1 – When Grace Offends You

Reading: Jonah 4:1–4 (NLT)

Scriptural Thought: “But Jonah became very upset and angry… ‘Didn’t I say before I left home that you would do this, LORD?’” (Jonah 4:1–2, NLT)

Reflection: Jonah wasn’t mad at failure—he was mad at grace. God showed mercy to people Jonah felt didn’t deserve it.

If we’re honest, we’ve been there too. We celebrate grace when it’s for us… but struggle when it’s for them.

This moment reveals something deep:

Sometimes our issue isn’t with people—it’s with God’s mercy toward them.

God is not asking Jonah a harsh question—He’s asking a revealing one:

“Is it right for you to be angry?”

That same question is for us today.

3-Step Application:

  1. Identify where you feel resentment toward someone.

  2. Ask God to reveal what’s underneath that feeling.

  3. Pray for that person—even if it feels uncomfortable.

Closing Prayer: Lord, search my heart. If there’s any place where I resist Your grace toward others, soften me. Help me to love what You love—even when it challenges me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
