Reading: Jonah 4:7–8 (NLT)
Scriptural Thought:
“God also arranged for a worm… and the plant withered away.” - Jonah 4:7, NLT
Reflection:
God gave Jonah the plant… then took it away.
Why? Because the plant exposed Jonah’s heart.
Sometimes God will press the very thing we’re clinging to—Not to harm us, but to transform us.
Comfort. Control. Preferences. Expectations.
God will lovingly disrupt what we protect if it keeps us from becoming who He’s called us to be.
This isn’t punishment. It’s discipleship.
3-Step Application:
Identify something you’re holding onto tightly.
Surrender it to God in prayer.
Trust that God’s plan is better than your comfort.
Closing Prayer:
Father, I surrender what I’ve been holding onto. Even when it’s uncomfortable, I trust You are shaping me. Help me to follow You fully today. Amen.
