Matthew 14:24–33
Scriptural Thought
Peter did something extraordinary — he walked on water. But the moment he shifted his focus from Jesus to the storm, fear took over and he began to sink. The storm didn’t change. Jesus didn’t move. Peter’s focus did.
Faith doesn’t fail because storms exist. It wavers when our eyes drift.
Reflection
We often judge ourselves harshly for moments of fear, but Jesus didn’t shame Peter — He reached for him.
This story reminds us that sinking doesn’t mean we’re abandoned. It means we need to cry out. Fear isn’t failure; it’s feedback.
Ask yourself: What am I looking at more than I’m looking at Jesus?
Storms are loud. Fear is persuasive. But Jesus is still near.
3-Step Application
Acknowledge where fear has crept in — name it honestly.
Cry out to Jesus instead of trying to steady yourself alone.
Refocus your attention by speaking truth aloud (Scripture or prayer).
Closing Prayer
Jesus, when fear rises, help me remember You are closer than the storm. Reach for me when my faith feels weak and teach me to keep my eyes on You. Amen.
