DAY 2 – The Cost of the Ticket

Reading: Jonah 1:3–5 (NLT)

Scriptural Thought: “He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord.” — Jonah 1:3 (NLT)

Reflection: Running from God is intentional. Jonah didn’t drift — he decided. He paid for a ticket away from his calling.

Disobedience is never free. It drains peace, clouds judgment, strains relationships, and dulls spiritual sensitivity. It may feel easier in the moment, but it always costs more than expected.

And here’s the deeper truth: Jonah’s decision didn’t just affect him. The sailors suffered because of it. Our private rebellion often creates public consequences.

The ticket you buy today may affect someone else tomorrow.

3-Step Application:

  1. Consider how your obedience or disobedience impacts others.

  2. Pray for sensitivity to the Holy Spirit in moments of decision.

  3. Choose obedience in one situation where compromise feels easier.

Closing Prayer: Lord, help me see the true cost of running from You. Protect the people around me from the consequences of my delay. Teach me to choose obedience quickly and wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
