Reading: Jonah 1:1–3 (NLT)
Scriptural Thought: “But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord.” — Jonah 1:3 (NLT)
Reflection: Jonah didn’t misunderstand God. He disagreed with Him. The text is clear — he went in the opposite direction. Running from God is rarely about confusion. Most of the time, it’s about preference.
We know what God said. We just don’t like what He said.
Spiritual drift often begins with small, justified steps in the wrong direction. A delayed apology. A postponed act of obedience. A quiet refusal to forgive. And before long, we’ve “bought a ticket” away from the will of God.
The question isn’t whether God has spoken. The question is: Are you headed toward Him — or away from Him?
3-Step Application:
Identify one clear instruction from God you’ve been avoiding.
Ask yourself honestly why you’ve resisted it.
Take one small step in the right direction today.
Closing Prayer: Father, reveal any area where I am moving in the opposite direction of Your will. Give me courage to obey even when it is uncomfortable. Redirect my steps and align my heart with Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
