DAY 4 – The One Who Didn’t Run

Reading: Jonah 1:15–16; Philippians 2:8 (NLT)

Scriptural Thought: “Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!” — Jonah 1:15 (NLT)

“And he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” — Philippians 2:8 (NLT)

Reflection: Jonah was thrown into the sea because of his disobedience.

Jesus went to the cross because of ours.

Jonah’s surrender saved sailors temporarily. Jesus’ obedience makes salvation possible eternally.

The gospel is not just that you should stop running. The gospel is that Christ did not run from the cross.

Because of Him, you don’t just have the opportunity to stop running — you have the invitation to run back to God.

3-Step Application:

  1. Thank Jesus for His obedience in your place.

  2. Confess any area where you’ve been running.

  3. Take a step toward God today — through prayer, repentance, or renewed commitment.

Closing Prayer: Jesus, thank You for not running from the cross. Thank You for stepping into judgment so I could receive mercy. Help me stop running and return fully to You. In Your name, amen.
