DAY 3 – Strengthening or Steering?

Reading: Jonah 1:4–12 (NLT)

Scriptural Thought: “But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm…” — Jonah 1:4 (NLT)

Reflection: The storm in Jonah’s life was not random. It was redirection.

Not every storm is correction. Some storms strengthen faith. Some build endurance. But some storms are God’s loving interruption — stopping us before we drift too far.

If God had wanted Jonah gone, He could have let him sail peacefully to Tarshish. The storm was proof of pursuit.

The presence of difficulty does not mean the absence of God. Sometimes it means He is actively steering you.

Is the storm in your life strengthening you — or steering you?

3-Step Application:

  1. Reflect on a current difficulty in your life.

  2. Ask God what He may be forming or correcting in you.

  3. Surrender your response to Him instead of resisting.

Closing Prayer: Father, help me discern what You are doing in my storms. If You are strengthening me, give me endurance. If You are steering me, give me humility to change direction and go where you call me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
