Week 1 Day 3: Refined Through Fire and Growing in Faith

Writer: Forward ChurchForward Church

Updated: Feb 25

Reading: 1 Peter 1:6-9, James 1:2-4

Devotional: Peter compares our faith to gold refined by fire, emphasizing that trials strengthen us. Similarly, James teaches that perseverance leads to spiritual maturity. God allows challenges not to harm us but to refine and grow our faith, making it stronger and more valuable.

Illustration: Gold must go through intense heat to remove impurities. If left unrefined, it remains impure. Likewise, God uses trials to refine us, removing anything that hinders our faith.

Reflection Moment:

  1. How has a past challenge strengthened your faith?

  2. What current difficulty can you view as part of God’s refining process?

3-Step Application:

  1. Reflect on a past trial and how it grew your faith.

  2. Choose gratitude—thank God for refining you through hardships.

  3. Share how trials have strengthened your faith with someone in need.

Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for refining my faith through trials. Help me trust Your process and embrace Your work in my life. Amen.
