DAY 1 — TRUTH THAT LIVES IN YOU

Scripture Reading

2 John 1:1–2 NLT

“…whom I love in the truth—as does everyone else who knows the truth—because the truth lives in us and will be with us forever.”

Scriptural Thought

John says something powerful about truth:

“The truth lives in us.”

He doesn't describe truth as information stored somewhere in our minds. Truth has taken up residence in us.

That changes everything.

There is a difference between knowing what is true and allowing truth to shape how you live.

Think about someone who knows they should eat healthier, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. They may be able to explain every benefit. They can watch videos, listen to podcasts, and even give somebody else advice.

But knowing what produces health and actually living a healthy life are two different things.

The same can happen spiritually.

We can know Scripture. Know church language. Know what Christians are supposed to say. Know what Jesus teaches.

And still make decisions that look nothing like the truth we claim to believe.

John reminds us that biblical truth isn't merely something Christians study.

Truth is supposed to live in us.

And ultimately, truth isn't simply a concept.

Jesus said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6 NLT

So when Jesus changes your life, truth shouldn't only affect what you believe on Sunday.

It should affect how you respond on Monday.

How you talk when you're frustrated.

How you treat people who disagree with you.

How you handle money.

How you behave when nobody is watching.

How you make decisions when doing the right thing costs you something.

Here's the question:

Can people see the truth you believe by watching the life you live?

Reflection

Where is there currently a gap between what I know is true and how I am actually living?

What area of my life does Jesus want His truth to change?

3-Step Application

1. IDENTIFY IT.

Ask God to show you one area where your actions aren't matching what you know.

2. BRING IT TO JESUS.

Don't hide it or excuse it. Talk honestly with God about it.

3. LIVE ONE TRUTH TODAY.

Choose one practical act of obedience that brings your behavior into alignment with God's Word.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me truth that doesn't change with circumstances, emotions, or culture. Help me not simply know Your truth but allow it to live through me. Show me anywhere my actions don't match what I say I believe. Give me the courage and strength to obey You today. In Jesus' name, amen.

Truth you only know can inform you. Truth you live can transform you.
