DAY 3 — DON’T JUST REACT. RESPOND.
Scripture Reading
Mark 5:6–8 NLT
Devotional Thought
One of the most important lessons in spiritual warfare is learning the difference between a reaction and a response.
A reaction is instant and emotional. A response is intentional and grounded in truth.
In Mark 5, the enemy reacts to Jesus.
But Jesus responds—with authority.
That’s the model for us.
Not every situation requires panic. Not every emotion deserves a reaction. Not every thought deserves agreement.
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is pause and ask:
“Jesus, how do You want me to respond to this?”
Before you speak.
Before you decide.
Before you react.
Pause.
Because your first feeling doesn’t have to become your final decision.
Reflection
Where do you tend to react instead of respond?
What emotions usually lead you there?
3-Step Application
1. PAUSE
Slow down before responding.
2. PRAY
Ask: “Jesus, what is true right now?”
3. CHOOSE
Respond based on truth, not emotion.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, teach me to respond instead of react. When emotions rise, give me wisdom to pause and hear Your voice. Lead my thoughts, words, and actions today. Amen.
