DAY 1 — DARKNESS KNOWS WHO JESUS IS

“When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him.”

Devotional Thought

Before Jesus ever spoke a word, the spiritual realm already knew exactly who He was.

That matters.

Jesus stepped into a place completely dominated by darkness. A man lived there—isolated, tormented, uncontrollable, and forgotten by everyone else.

But the demons inside him saw something different.

They saw Jesus.

And they reacted immediately. Not with confidence. Not with resistance. But with recognition.

Because even darkness understands authority when it sees it.

Here’s what we often forget in spiritual warfare:

We spend so much time talking about what the enemy can do that we forget who the enemy has to answer to.

Jesus wasn’t nervous. He wasn’t intimidated. He didn’t need backup.

The darkness reacted because the Light had arrived.

Whatever you’re facing today may feel overwhelming—but it is not greater than Jesus.

Remember this:

What intimidates you does not intimidate Jesus.

The real question is not just “What am I facing? ”It’s “Who is standing with me while I face it?”

What situation has been getting more of your attention than Jesus’ authority?

Where have you allowed fear to make the problem look bigger than God?

3-Step Application

1. NAME IT: Identify what has been weighing on your mind.

2. BRING IT TO JESUS: Be honest with Him about your fear, pressure, or struggle.

3. REFOCUS: When fear returns today, declare:“This may be bigger than me, but it is not bigger than Jesus.”

Closing Prayer

Jesus, help me see You as greater than everything I am facing. When fear rises, remind me of Your authority. I don’t want to magnify darkness—I want to magnify You. Teach me to trust that nothing I face today is outside of Your control. Amen.
