DAY 4 — THIS IS NOT HOW YOUR STORY ENDS

Scripture Reading

1 Peter 5:10 NLT

“In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.”

Scriptural Thought

Maybe one of the most encouraging parts of Peter's warning about spiritual warfare is how he ends it.

He doesn't end with the devil.

He ends with God.

Peter has already told us:

Stay alert.

Watch out.

The enemy is prowling.

Resist him.

Stand firm.

But then Peter reminds suffering believers:

God is going to restore you.

That's hope.

Spiritual warfare can make you focus so much on what the enemy is trying to do that you forget what God has promised to do.

Look at the words Peter uses:

Restore.

Support.

Strengthen.

Place you on a firm foundation.

Your struggle may be real.

Your pain may be real.

Your disappointment may be real.

But none of those things get the final word.

Week 3 teaching makes this point clearly: spiritual warfare isn't an endless grind. God Himself acts to restore what has been damaged, strengthen shaky hearts, and establish His people.

Maybe you're walking through something right now and wondering:

When is this going to end?

When am I going to feel like myself again?

When will things finally turn around?

I can't promise you when.

But Peter gives us something better than a date.

He gives us a promise about WHO is holding the ending.

The God who called you is still working.

The God who saved you is still keeping you.

The God who carried you before hasn't stopped now.

The enemy doesn't write the final chapter of your story. God does.

So stay awake.

Keep resisting.

Keep standing.

And don't lose hope.

Reflection

Where have you allowed a difficult season to convince you that things will always be this way?

What changes when you remember that God's final word over your life is restoration—not defeat?

3-Step Application

1. LOOK BACK.

Remember one difficult season God has already brought you through.

2. LOOK UP.

Thank God for His faithfulness before asking Him for anything today.

3. LOOK FORWARD.

Write this somewhere you'll see it:

“This season is part of my story. It is not the end of my story.”

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You that my struggle doesn't get the final word. Thank You that You are the God of all grace. When I'm tired, support me. When I've been hurt, restore me. When I feel weak, strengthen me. When everything around me feels unstable, establish me on a firm foundation. Help me stay alert, resist the enemy, stand firm in my faith, and never lose sight of the hope I have in Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen.

FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT

This week, remember:

You don't have to be scared of the fight. But you do need to stay awake in it.

Stay alert.

Guard your mind.

Recognize the lies.

Stand on God's truth.

Resist the enemy.

And when you're tired, remember—you aren't fighting for God to eventually decide whether He will help you.

The God of all grace is already with you.

Stay awake. Stand firm. Keep trusting Jesus.

And remember, You’ve got this because He’s got you.
