Day 3 — What Real Repentance Looks Like

Reading

Jonah 3:5 (NLT) “The people of Nineveh believed God’s message, and from the greatest to the least, they declared a fast and put on burlap to show their sorrow.”

Scriptural Thought

The people of Nineveh didn’t just feel bad about their actions. Their repentance changed their behavior. True repentance is more than regret—it leads to transformation.

The Apostle Paul explains it this way:

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NLT) “For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation.”

Real repentance means turning away from the old life and stepping into a new one.

Reflection

Is there an area of your life where God may be calling you to real change, not just regret?

God doesn’t just want us to feel convicted—He wants us to be transformed.

3-Step Application

  1. Ask God to reveal areas that need change.

  2. Confess honestly. Don’t justify what God is correcting.

  3. Take a new direction. Repentance always includes action.

Closing Prayer

Father, give me a heart that responds to conviction with true repentance. Help me turn away from anything that separates me from You and walk in the life You have called me to live. Amen.
