2 Corinthians 5:7 AMP

“7 for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]”

Scriptural Thought

Faith isn't pretending you don't see the problem.

Faith is refusing to let the problem have the final word.

There's a difference.

Elisha wasn't standing outside saying: “What army? I don't see an army.”

The army was there.

Faith doesn't require denial.

Faith requires perspective.

We sometimes think faith means we will understand everything God is doing.

We won't.

There will be seasons where you won't understand.

You won't see the answer.

You won't know how things are going to work.

You won't understand why God hasn't changed something yet.

That's where faith becomes necessary.

If you could see everything clearly, you wouldn't need faith.

Walking by faith means I can say:

“I don't know what God is doing, but I know who God is.”

That's different.

My circumstances may be confusing.

But God is still faithful.

My future may feel uncertain.

But God is already there.

My resources may look limited.

But God is still my provider.

The battle may look bigger than me.

But the battle isn't bigger than God.

Faith doesn't mean ignoring reality.

Faith means including God in your understanding of reality.

Reflection

Am I waiting to see something change before I trust God?

What would trusting Him look like before the answer comes?

3-Step Application

1. Identify What You Know.

Write one thing you don't understand about your current situation.

2. Identify Who You Know.

Underneath it, write three things you know to be true about God's character.

3. Take One Faith Step.

Do the next thing God has already shown you to do instead of waiting until you understand everything.

Closing Prayer

God, teach me to walk by faith and not only by what I can see. I don't understand everything happening in my life, but I trust You. When my circumstances are confusing, anchor me in Your character. Give me courage to obey You even when I cannot see the entire path ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.
